Installation help, manuals and troubleshooting for Ozone Spirit mini split systems.
How to install a mini split
Start here. Our step-by-step installation video walks the entire job from opening the box to powering it up.
Installation overview
A typical single-zone install runs about like this:
- Mount the wall plate and drill the penetration. Roughly 3 inches, pitched slightly downward toward the outside so condensate drains away from the wall.
- Hang the indoor head and feed the lineset, drain line and communication cable through the wall.
- Set the condenser on a bracket or pad, level, clear of standing water and with room for airflow.
- Connect the flare fittings at both ends. Snug, then torque to spec — overtightening deforms the flare and causes the leak you’re trying to prevent.
- Evacuate and release the charge. Vacuum the lineset down, confirm it holds, then open the service valves to release the refrigerant into the system.
- Power up and test in both cooling and heating, and confirm the drain runs clear.

Find support for your Ozone Spirit system
Locate the model number on the data placard on the outdoor unit. The final letter identifies which support resources apply to your system.

The placard also carries the electrical data an installer or electrician needs — rated voltage, MCA (minimum circuit ampacity) and MOP (maximum overcurrent protection) — so a photo of it answers most questions. Not sure what you’re looking at? Text us the photo.

General maintenance
Cleaning your filters
Pop the front cover on the indoor head, slide the mesh filters out, rinse them in the sink with warm water, and let them dry fully before they go back in. Every month or two in a house, more often in a shop. This is the single biggest thing that affects how well the unit performs and how long it lasts.
What a defrost cycle looks like
In heat mode the outdoor unit periodically runs a defrost cycle — it stops blowing warm air for a few minutes, you may see steam coming off the condenser, then it resumes. That’s normal operation, not a fault.
Keeping the condenser clear
Keep grass clippings, leaves and shrubs back from the coil so air can move through it freely. Make sure the base isn’t sitting in standing water after a hard rain — a bracket or pad solves that permanently.
Drain line care
The drain needs continuous fall from the indoor head to daylight, with no traps or uphill sections. A mini split in an Acadiana August pulls a surprising volume of water out of the air, and all of it has to go somewhere that isn’t your wall. If you see water at the indoor head, check the drain first.
